Are you at risk for falling?

Attend our next Healthy Aging Preventing Falls workshop on Monday November 25 1:30-3:30pm @ 245 Dixon Road and learn what you can do to help prevent a fall and maintain your independence.

Did you know 1/3 older adults has a fall each year?

  • 90% of broken hips are as a result of falls
  • Falls are the major cause of fatal injuries by age 75
  • 50% of older adults who fell once will fall  again within 6 months
  • 40% of admissions to nursing homes are  related to falls.
  •  At least 1 older adult in Ontario is admitted to a hospital every 30 minutes due to a fall (Toronto Public Health, 2005)
  • Nearly half of all falls occur at home
